Rossvale Amateurs 4 Dunoon 2
Report by Gary Dunnery
The Vale took on Dunoon in an SAFL Premier League 1 clash on Saturday 2nd December at Milton. Dunoon had been on a decent run and sit third in the table, Rossvale however, had lost the previous game to Ferguslie Star 3-2 in a feisty encounter at Huntershill.
Dunoon started the sharper, and took the lead early in the first half. The game being played on grass was scrappy at times, with the heavy pitch not allowing either side to settle on the ball.
Rossvale were to find an equaliser before half time, with Greek striker Dimitri Efentopoulos beating the offside trap and firing home a crisp strike into the top corner. Half Time (1-1).
The second half kicked off with Rossvale continuing to press high and they got their rewards when Connor Park placed a wonderful free kick into the far-right corner, deceiving everybody (2-1).
Just minutes later, Scott Pestell drove at the Dunoon defenders and fired a strike against the Dunoon keeper which rebounded onto the foot of winger Allan Gilchrist who made no mistake from four yards. (3-1).
Jamie Docherty, a recent signing from Maryhill Black Star came on to replace Efentopoulos and he quickly made his mark, after latching onto a through ball and then curling a well-placed shot past the goalkeeper (4-1).
Dunoon were to score a late penalty after a hand ball, but it was to prove a mere consolation. Full Time 4-2. An excellent result for The Vale and debutants Corey Brace, Dom Green, and Jamie Docherty look very good additions to the squad. Saturdays fixture coming is another home tie against Rutherglen.
